Queen Elizabeth II - Q E II
She was born in London in 1926. Her father became King George VI when she was 9 years old. He died in 1952, therefore when she was 26 years old she ascended to the throne as Queen Elizabeth II.
Princess Elizabeth had her education at home with her younger sister Princess Margaret. After her father became the king, she became the heir presumptive (meaning she would be queen one day), her studies included constitutional history and law. Her passion since she was a young girl has been horses. She started riding them end progressed to owning and breeding thoroughbreds.
During World War II her father send her and her sister to live outside of London because he was afraid of a Nazi invasion however Princess Elizabeth insisted on taking part of the war effort and so she completed a course at No.1 Mechanical training of the auxiliary territorial service (ATS) and passed as a fully qualified driver.
Q E II has four children; two were born before she became Queen and two after. The Queen is an extremely busy woman as she is the head of many organizations for example she is the head of the nave, army and air force of Britain. And at her coronation she assumed similar position elsewhere in the common wealth. In fact the Queen is part on or president of over 700 organizations and each year she attend a large number of official engagement-she attended over 400 in 2005 alone.
